synCRO workshop

On February 7, 2025, the Institute of Physics organized and hosted the synCRO workshop, which was attended by scientists from Croatia who conduct part of their experimental measurements at synchrotron facilities. In addition to scientists from the Institute of Physics, the workshop was attended by scientists from the Ruđer Bošković Institute, the Faculty of Science of the University of Zagreb (Departments of Physics and Chemistry), and the Faculty of Physics of the University of Rijeka. Through presentations of recent research at synchrotrons and future plans, the workshop participants showed that synchrotrons are an important segment of their scientific work and that there is a clear intention to continue using synchrotrons in future research. After the presentations, various models for strengthening the presence of Croatian scientists at synchrotrons in the form of formal collaborations and/or consortia were presented and discussed. Such collaborations would enable the improvement of the quality of research in Croatia, networking with scientists from abroad, and ultimately increase the visibility of Croatia on the scientific map of Europe.
