Istraživanja u području fizike kondenzirane materije pokrivaju eksperimentalna i teorijska ispitivanja.
Glavne domene istraživanja uključuju:
- nove materijale jako anizotropnih kristalografskih i elektronskih struktura (sistemi s valovima gustoće naboja i spina).
- elektronska i magnetska svojstva amorfnih metalnih slitina istraživanje jako koreliranih elektronskih sistema (teški fermioni, Kondo legure i visokotemperaturni supravodiči)
- istraživanje kritičnih pojava, što uključuje modeliranje “ravnotežinih” faznih prijelaza kao i ireverzibilnih procesa poput površinskog rasta
- istraživanja u području višečestičnih teorija niskodimenzionalnih sistema (visokotemperaturna supravodljivost, Pierlsova nastabilnost, valovi gustoće naboja i spina itd.)
- magnetizam i magnetski fenomeni, napose novih magnetskih materijala s kompleksnim uređenjem te sistema magnetskih nanočestica
