Sažetak
Nisko-temperaturne plazme su trenutno u fokusu temeljnih istraživanja uslijed mnogih otvorenih pitanja koje proizlaze iz njihove složene prirode, ali istovremeno i zbog vrlo visokog potencijala za primjene u različitim drugim istraživačkim područjima i tehnologijama.
Plazme je moguće proizvesti bombardirajući materiju bilo energetskim elektronima bilo energetskim fotonima. U prvom slučaju koriste se različiti električni Izboji a u drugom snažni laseri. Naš je interes u plazmama proizvedenim u vakuumu, u uvjetima niskog tlaka pozadinskog plina, na atmosferskom tlaku ili u odnosno na tekućinama.
Izboji koje upotrebljavamo su raznorodni: bez-elektrodni, s jednom ili dvije elektrode, dok se laseri kreću od kontinuiranih do pulsnih, nanosekundnih. U našem istraživanju posebna se pažnja posvećuje kreiranju elektronskih energetskih raspodjela koje kao ključni faktor utječu na sadržaj plazme. Obično to se postiže promjenom makroskopskih plazma parametara – tlaka plina, električnih polja i geometrije izboja. U ovom projektu za taj cilj upotrijebit ćemo kombinaciju laserski proizvedenih plazmi i električkih izboja.
Za razumijevanje složene prirode plazmi i procesa interakcije plazme s ostalim stanjima materije (plinovima, tekućinama i krutinama) temeljni pristup je dijagnostika plazme pomoću različitih optičkih i laserskih spektroskopija.
Za interpretaciju opažanja proučavamo osnovne atomske sudarne procese u plazmama te strukturu i spektre različitih kompleksa formiranih u plazmi (dimeri, radikali i dr.)
U različitim primjenama plazma tretmana tvari postoji potreba za in situ monitoring procesa, kako u plazmi tako i na kontaktnim površinama što iziskuje razvoj prostorno i vremenski razlučivih tehnika. Koristimo klasične emisijske i laserske apsorpcijske tehnike i druge moderne tehnike kao što je cavity ring-down spektroskopija.
